i was always the one kid who enjoyed when musical groups did assemblies in high school, especially when instrumentalists came to perform. i could always “understand” and “feel” what the notes & songs were telling me, as if they were just speaking to me alone. i would hear stories upon stories and just get lost in the music. this video is a reflection of how i felt/feel today. it’s weird how one can have peace but no peace in their heart. i believe this is the feeling that Tord Gustavsen is portraying so vividly in the penultimate chorus of the song (*CHORUS - jazz musicians term meaning the whole entire form/progression of the tune). there is something about his choice of chords and their voicings that hits a spot inside me & resonates as loud as a horn on a cruise liner. who knew that a series of tones made of frequencies can unlock the emotional locker of a persons heart and soul. well now that i think of it, God knew what He was doing.
